A neat new biofuel research facility will be opened today on Hollis Street in Emeryville, and the Trib sez Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman will be there to say a few words and presumably cut the ribbon. The new center will focus on breeding plants with sugars that break down easily, synthesizing enzymes, and creating "a more powerful fermenting alternative to yeast." Are we building a better beer or something?
