Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums is pleading with Oakland residents to pass Measure NN, the parcel tax to hire 105 cops and 75 support police staff. The Oakland police academy is in the process of graduating 80 new officers, which would just about meet the goal of boasting 803 cops in the department. But according to the Oakland Tribune, five cops retire every month, which means Oakland will be almost back where it started a year from now.
