Long Haul Lefties Will Protest Raid at Sproul Plaza

If you happen to be cruising along the Cal campus with nothing to do tomorrow, the activists and crunchy lefties of the Long Haul would like to bend your ear about the recent police raid. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Long Haul associates will hold a rally at Sproul Plaza, protesting last week's raid on the South Berkeley organizing space. Most observers have speculated that the raid was in connection with a recent wave of attacks on animal research scientists, but Long Haul organizer "Paul B." told Socialist Worker that was bunk. "It seems like the government doesn't want open community spaces like the Long Haul," he said. "If there's even that potential for open, grassroots organizing, your group might get raided." Will Long Haul members repeat this kind of silliness at Sproul tomorrow? The only way to find out is to go and see for yourself.
