Gene Upshaw, the legendary Oakland Raiders offensive lineman and longtime head of the NFL players' union, will be honored at McAfee Coliseum during the Raiders-Broncos game next Monday. A patch displaying his team number will be painted on the field, and the Raiders will show a video celebrating his life and career. Upshaw, who died suddenly on August 20, played in three Super Bowls for the Raiders. He later ran the NFL players' union for many years, including the contentious 1987 players strike.
