UC Berkeley officials had some pretty jangly nerves leading up to the first game of the football season last Friday. Would the tree-sitters perched near Memorial Stadium piss off some drunken frat boys. Would custodians end the day sweeping broken teeth and trail mix off the street? Not to worry, says the Daily Californian. Both Bears fans and students from visiting Michigan State either ignored the tree-sitters or treated them like a curious sideshow. The protestors did their best to plea for the endangered trees (and God help us, Zachary Runningwolf was back again), but the fans just listened politely and moved on. Good thing Cal won, or there might have been real trouble.
