This week, "Home, Suite Home": The middle-class American dream of owning a piece of property turned soggy for residents of Emeryville's Terraces at EmeryStation, a condo block next to the Amtrak station. Leaks sprouted from walls and floors, mold flourished, and eventually the residents who suffered the most damage were relocated just across the railroad tracks in the Woodfin Suites Hotel. That was almost three years ago, and they're still waiting to move back into their homes. Now, angry condo owners are suing complex builders Wareham Development and finding out things about Wareham's president, Rich Robbins, who has had run-ins with tenants and municipalities up and down the East Bay. Meanwhile, the repairs process drags on. Writer Lauren Gard gets the story.
