.Michael Chabon to Pen Serial for NYT Mag

Editors at The New York Times Sunday magazine have tapped Berkeley writer Michael Chabon to write the latest serialized novel for their magazine feature, “Funny Pages.” The novel will take place in the Caucasus Mountains in the 10th century, according to a report in Mediabistro.com, and feature swordplay, horses, and possibly hordes of invading Russian clansmen. And since Chabon has apparently dedicated the book to fantasy writer Michael Moorcock, there might even be an ebon blade that devours souls or something. Chabon is certainly in good company. So far, the magazine has hired Elmore Leonard, Patricia Cornwall, Scott Turow, and Michael Connolly to bang out a few yarns.
