From Harborside Health Center's latest newsletter: "As many of you may know, Jason David and his son Jayden (as seen on "Weed Wars") are using CBD-rich tinctures to treat Dravet Syndrome [otherwise known as infant epilepsy]. Jason continues to come to Harborside Health Center to get CBD tinctures to treat Jayden's condition. The results of this CBD treatment have varied from excellent to inconsistent. When the results are excellent, Jayden has 90 percent fewer seizures that are also less severe. When the results are inconsistent, his seizures continue to cause him suffering. The inconsistencies are mainly due to the active ingredient, CBD, being in too short a concentration within the glycerin tincture.

President Obama was in California for a series of fundraisers Thursday, when a small plane carrying about forty pounds of pot wandered into a no-fly zone near the President and Los Angeles Airport. According to a statement from NORAD : "Two F-16 fighters under the direction of North American Aerospace Defense Command intercepted a general aviation aircraft in the vicinity of Los Angeles shortly after noon today, MST."

The fighters scrambled out of March Air Reserve Base in Riverside County, California in response to a temporary flight restriction violation by a Cessna 182 aircraft over Los Angeles.

"After intercepting the aircraft, the F-16s followed it until it landed without incident at approximately 12:30 p.m. MST, where the plane was met by local law enforcement."

On the ground, law enforcement officials found seven kilos of marijuana. The plane had taken off from Santa Maria, CA. Its destination, and pilot remains undisclosed.

Rolling Stone: Pres. Obama's War on Pot Is Futile, Strange

From the magazine that brought you Fear & Loathing, a roundup of Presidential flip-floppery on the topic of the sticky-icky: "'Whether you call it medical or recreational, the marijuana genie is out of the bottle, and there's no one who's going to put it back in," insists Sheriff Allman of Mendocino, whose department had been targeted by federal prosecutors for its attempts to regulate medical pot. 'For federal officials who plug their ears and say, 'No, it's not true, it's not true,' I have some words for them: You need to get over it.'"

The Newest Voice for Legalization: Tony Bennett (?!)

by David Downs
Wed, Feb 15, 2012 at 12:50 PM

At a pre-Grammy gala, noting the deaths of Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, and Whitney Houston, singer Tony Bennett appealed for drug legalization, saying "Let's legalize drugs like they did in Amsterdam. No one's hiding or sneaking around corners to get it. They go to a doctor to get it, [not] gangsters that just sell it under the table."

Comments Sterling on Justice & Drugs: "What strikes me is that in this context the argument is implicitly a public health claim, not an argument grounded in opposition to legal injustice, favoring individual liberty, saving taxpayer's money, or fighting crime. Given the very different circumstances of the deaths of Jackson, Winehouse and Houston, it seems to me Bennett seems to have an understanding of the negative ways drug prohibition abuse affects so many features of drug use patterns and treatment. It is also striking that on the occasion of Whitney Houston's death, instead of simply lamenting drugs or substance abuse, or endorsing the importance of treatment, Bennett felt moved to endorse a policy change, namely, drug legalization. Bravo Tony Bennett!"
