Duende (468 19th St., Oakland) opened last night, with a menu of Spanish tapas — and free jazz. Turns out, the former Oliveto chef behind Duende, Paul Canales, is a huge fan of avant-garde music and opened the space with live music in mind. (Read Canales’ blog about how composer John Zorn came up with the name Duende and Mike Patton of Faith No More encouraged him to open the restaurant.)
