Nina Nilssen, a 29-year-old graduate student at San Francisco State University, and a musician and composer who had just moved to Oakland from San Francisco, was stabbed to death in Antigua last Tuesday. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Nilssen was on the Caribbean island as part of a cruise for her sister’s wedding. The family went ashore for a midday barbecue, and though it’s not yet clear what happened next, Nilssen’s body was found at 5 p.m. with a stab wound to the neck. The motives are still unknown. According to the Antigua Sun, her bag was found at the scene. The police announced a description of a “person of interest” in connection with the case.
