.Subtle on the Radio

Get it while it’s hot. 2006 music champions TV on the Radio [link to Best of 2006 ] just picked up Oakland experimental hip-hop six-piece Subtle [link to East Bay Express feature] for some Spring touring. “We can’t make it without bands like them making it, so it’s good for us,” says Subtle lead Adam “Doseone” Drucker. Come out to SF this week and enjoy the their latest album For Hero:For Fool [link to MySpace stream and Subtle site] plus some classic cuts as part of a two-week West Coast tour with SoCal rapper Pigeon John [link to MySpace stream and web page].

Nothing subtle about the arrangements this tour, says Doseone, who handles vocals while Jel handles the beats via MPC; plus cello/bassist Alexander Kort, percusso-synth-guitarist polymath Jordan Dalrymple and Marty Kalani Dowers on woodwinds. Keyboardist Dax Pierson will not tour due to ongoing paralysis from a tour injury in 2006.

Lastly, Doseone returns to the Bay this February after an ill-fated move to Vancouver. TVOTR tours in March. Booyaka!

Check out the set Saturday and Sunday, January 20 and 21. 9 p.m. $12 all ages BottomOfTheHill.com (D2)
