Another Reason to Get Renter's Insurance

A show at Kimo's this Sat., Nov. 4, will benefit the seventeen bands that lost much of their equipment in a five-alarm fire in Oakland on Oct. 2. The early morning blaze gutted a carpet warehouse and the adjacent rehearsal studio near Alameda's Park Street bridge. Tad Gonzales, singer of Straggler, said his band lost about $15,000 worth of gear, including two guitars, four amplifiers, pedals, cords, mics, and an entire drum kit. Erich Elleson, bass guitarist for All the New, said his band lost two drum sets, two bass amps, two guitar amps, nine guitars, and all of their recording equipment. Luckily, the equipment of Did I Stutter, Visitor 42, and Gunpowder only suffered water damage, allowing them to play this benefit show. All the proceeds will go toward the bands, so come out and show your support. At Kimo's on Sat., Nov. 4 at 9 p.m., $5.
