Vice Cabaret

When: Sat., Jan. 28, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $10

Burlesque succeeds when it embraces both its retro and its camp aspects, and when the performers don't shy away from Carmen Miranda fruit hats or songs made popular by Betty Boop. That's the sensibility of Vice Cabaret, a variety show produced under the auspice of local company Living Cult Burlesque Theatre. The next installment will feature song-and-dance numbers by a clown, an addict, a Bond Girl, and a "Rubenesque" glamazon, and several other curvy coquettes. Part DJ dance party, part stage musical, part old-fashioned striptease, this event will also feature celebrity cameos, raffle prizes, and schwag. At Vitus (201 Broadway, Oakland) on Saturday, Jan. 28. 9 p.m., $10.
