Manager Nick Liang takes his wine seriously, and this stylish downtown Livermore bistro is all about matching fine bottles with accessible Sichuan and Cantonese cooking. It’s a formula Uncle Yu’s has perfected in Lafayette and San Ramon, but here it’s been buffed to a high sheen. The wines tend to be grand and unapologetically Eurocentric, but the risk of spoiling a pricey wine with some heavily sweet or sour dish can be stressful. Peking duck with Barolo, however, is a breathtaking combo.
