The pastas and braised meats are better than average at this no-nonsense northern Italian restaurant, a sister to Pleasanton’s always-popular Fontina. Stick to the basics, the Caesar salad and spaghetti with wonderfully tender meatballs. Anyway, the most appealing thing about La Toscana isn’t on your plate — it’s the view out to the convincingly Mediterranean courtyard at Salvio Pacheco Square.
