Tea Here Now carries about twenty different teas at a time, all well sourced and well priced, and serves vegetarian offerings such as salads, steel-cut oatmeal, and rice pudding.
Tea Here Now is a labor of love for Andrea Tyler, a nonprofit-event-planner-turned-tea-maven who runs this charming, tiny cafe with the sort of warm hospitality you might normally associate with the cheeriest of B&B hostesses. The shop carries about twenty different teas at a time, all well sourced and well priced. All you need to do is ask, and Tyler will tell you about the 111-year-old Kenyan tea farmer who supplies one of her classic black teas, or enumerate the differences between three different Earl Greys, each one aromatic and subtly sweet. Foodwise, Tyler serves mostly big, wholesome salads that vary from day to day. In the mornings, there are steel-cut oats, and most afternoons there’s a barely-sweet black forbidden rice pudding — redolent of cardamom and coconut milk — that pairs well with an Earl Grey.
