Every third Thursday of the month, Sweet Bar Bakery (2355 Broadway, Oakland) hosts an informal themed open mic, where speakers chosen out of a hat launch into five minute anecdotal accounts of real-life happenings. This month, these personal stories will center on race and privilege. A few featured storytellers will perform along with those chosen from the audience, including Francie Anderson, Yodassa Williams, Kenny Johnson, and Luna Malbroux. Attend to share or just to listen and reflect on the ways that race and privilege intersect.
