Filmmaker Joseph Levy’s thoughtful, high-concept foodie documentary gets up close and personal with three completely different sets of restaurateurs: celebrity chef Grant Achatz from Chicago’s celebrated modernist-cuisine destination, Alinea; Mike and Cindy Breitbach, whose 163-year-old Breitbach’s Country Dining in tiny Balltown, Iowa is a community treasure; and Tucson’s Martinez family, whose Gabby’s La Cocina puts out lovingly made Mexican specialties with one eye on the creditors. Not only do all three families embrace the calling of hospitality, they all have had their challenges. The doc convinces us to never take a restaurant for granted ever again (93 min.).
