A dirty little secret of the live music racket: No matter how often the band onstage is described as "psychedelic," "colorful," "panoramic," or what have you, it helps to have something else to look at when you get bored. So why not high-end, high-concept art? You can tune in and drop out to highfalutin out-of-towners (Animal Collective, Mono, Oneida, the Perceptionists), or keep your eyes wide open and regard, oh, that giant wall of chest X-rays clipped to clothes hangers as you enjoy the homegrown stylings of Comets on Fire, Okay, Half-Handed Cloud, and the like. The cavernous space breathes well, the ever- rotating art is consistently compelling and bizarre, the show calendar will satisfy all your hip and of-the-moment SF buddies, and the PA equals that of any small club you'd care to name. We've got a perfect storm of coolness here, folks. Bundle up.
