Rocky Horror Picture Show

When: Saturdays, Sundays, 11:30 p.m. Continues through April 11 2010
Price: $10

There's almost no such thing as a casual Rocky Horror fan. Some of us went once, dressed up, threw pieces of toast at the actors, and doddered through the "Time Warp." But the true die-hards stood in line every Saturday to watch the Tim Burton classic acted out simultaneously on screen and live on stage. The Rocky Horror Picture Showcame to Berkeley's UC Theater some time in the 1970s, and ran every Saturday night until the venue shuttered in 2001. From there, it's had a rocky history: It moved briefly to the Bal Theater in San Leandro, then to the Parkway Speakeasy, which closed in 2009. Last fall, the cast of Barely Legal Productions (which took over the UC Theater Rocky Horror in 1995) resurrected the stage show at Grand Lake Theater for another experimental run. Now it's coming to Landmark's Albany Twin (1115 Solano Ave., Albany) for another fully-staged production, complete with costume contests and live music by the Crowd Pleasers. For three decades, this event has withstood venue closures, economic crises, and the test of time. And it's still got a cult following. 11:30 p.m., $10. BarelyLegal.rhps.org
