This small, industrial-chic ramen house is filled with Japanese students reading manga as they hunch over their bowls of noodles. Ryowa specializes in un-Americanized Kobe-style ramen: huge bowls of meaty pork stock filled with crinkly, chewy noodles and slices of tender pork (yes, there’s a vegetarian ramen, too). The only side dishes, gyoza and fried rice, are both worth a couple of extra bucks. Service can be a little confused.

Hours: 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Mon.-Sat., 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Sun.
