Folsom Mountain Bike Sprint Triathlon Five-hundred-yard swim, ten-mile bike, 3.1-mile run. Swim is a loop in Lake Natoma; mountain bike and run are on hilly dirt paths and fire trails. Awards three-deep in every age group (starting at 29 and under and going to seventy and up), for every level of experience. Postrace party. Register soon, as there are only four hundred spots available. Preregistration before July 10 is $70, $80 after; no relays. Davis Kids' Triathlon For ages four to seventeen, a unique and safe event to introduce kids to triathlon events. Races designed differently for every age group; six and under do a 25-yard swim, one-mile bike, and quarter-mile run. Fifteen to seventeen do a 200-yard swim, four-mile bike, and two-mile run. First heat (fifteen to seventeen group) starts at 8 a.m.; at the UC Davis Schaal Aquatic Center. Folsom International Triathlon Racers from all over the world are invited to race the 1.5K swim, 40K bike, and 10K run on a flat and fast course. Entertainment for spectators and nonracers includes a climbing wall, live music, booths, catered food, and humorous announcers. Awards will be given for top three male and female teams and overall club top score; a beer and BBQ party will be put on by J&A Productions for the winning club. Each Tri-Club team member must register online for the Nor-Cal Tri-Club Championships. Register before July 10: $95 individual racer, $105 relay team; after July 10, $105/$150. Howell Mountain (Biking) Challenge Ten-Mile Loop/Pacific Union College. Check-in 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.. $35 registration after August 7, $30 before. One-day NORBA license sold race day for $5; pro and expert racers must buy a year's license for $50. Race begins 10:30 a.m. Course is hilly, with smooth-to-medium-rough trails, service roads, double- and single-track, lots of trees. $120 purse to first male and female finisher.
