Catfish Open Water Swim This event is two races -- a 1.2-mile swim and a 2.4-mile swim -- in Lexington Reservoir in Los Gatos. The reservoir is ideal for competition, offering clean water, warm sun, and a beach party atmosphere. Preregistration before July 11 is $45, $55 after. Registration includes T-shirt, swim cap, race bags, and free food. There is no parking, so park at Los Gatos High School and take a free shuttle. Frying Pan Pro/Am Disc Golf Tournament A two-day event at the Oak Grove Regional Park in Stockton (intersection of I-5 and Eight Mile Rd.). Awards ceremony, contest results (CTP, putting, etc.), and a raffle will be held immediately after the last round on Sunday. Lunch is $5 on Saturday. The first eighty people registered for the amateur division receive players' packages. Check-in on Saturday is 8 a.m., players' meeting at 9:30 a.m., tee off at 10 a.m. Entry fees range from $70 for men's master to $30 for junior division. Eleventh Annual San Francisco Chronicle Tour de Peninsula The Bay Area's largest cycling event is a 33-mile tour of the SF peninsula, sponsored by the Chronicle. (Five rest stops; 17- and 21-mile shortcuts.) All proceeds benefit the San Mateo County Parks Foundation.
