Visitors to this former fast-food joint have the opportunity to experience a rare trifecta: Salvadoran pupusas, Mexican burritos, and the Cajun-spiced drumsticks and wings of the Louisiana Fried Chicken chain. Sometimes the cultures represented at Oralia’s collide, deliciously, as in the Fried “Chickurrito” — a burrito stuffed full of fried-chicken strips, sour cream, and seasoned rice. But our favorite dishes are mostly on the Salvadoran side of the menu. Start with the fat, well-charred pupusas, which come two to an order, filled with cheese and either pork or loroco (an edible flower). Or try a traditional Salvadoran breakfast of over-easy eggs, fried plantains, rice, beans, fresh tortillas, and a wedge of queso fresco. Wash it all down with a refreshing agua fresca.
