Never Young

When: Thu., May 29, 7 p.m. 2014
Price: $7
If you like your pop dissonant, careening, and bathed in distortion, with choruses shouted and graininess in full bleed, you’ll want to check out Never Young. The Oakland band’s recently released album, Master Copy, is eighteen minutes of short, punchy, punkish anthems, brimming with youthful exuberance, catchy melodies, and a healthy admiration for the 1990s. Released on the San Francisco record label Father/Daughter Records, which bills itself as “a safe haven for misfit pop bands,” the cassette-only release also comes in an expanded edition with a “handmade, limited edition ’zine.” Pick one up at the band’s next show, which happens on Thursday at SUB-Mission (2183 Mission St., San Francisco).
