The affordably priced and healthy-minded Cactus Taqueria already deserves an award for maintaining the sanity of Oakland and Berkeley parents, but it's also got another hidden value: its weekend brunch. If you don't notice the laminated menu taped to its front door, you might never know such offerings existed. Which would be a shame, because not only are the items — the usual suspects: huevos revueltos, chilaquiles, huevos divorciados, breakfast burritos — pretty good and served in generous portions, they're also ridiculously cheap. (The most expensive item is $5.50.) In an area where brunch for two can easily run up a tab of $30 or more, Cactus appears to operate more like a public service than a business — for which our wallets and stomachs are grateful.
