Marga Gomez's Not Getting Any Younger

When: Fridays, 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 5 p.m. Continues through June 30 2012
Price: $15-$50

Marga Gomez may proclaim herself the first out lesbian comedian in US pop culture -- a point that seems debatable, though so far nobody has openly disputed it -- but she's certainly not inured to the societal pressures that face those of us with no lofty credentials to stand on. Like age, for instance. And the signs of decay that accompany it. Gomez, who won't reveal her real date of birth (it's evidently sometime around 1960, though she says that year is incorrect) admits to having insecurities about gray hair (she dyes her own with Clairol) and creaky joints (she represents them onstage with a loud, theatrical sound effect). Nonetheless, age is fodder for inventive physical comedy in her new one-woman show, Not Getting Any Younger. Light, conversational, and bolstered by old-codger observations about technology, parenting, changes in pop culture, and "irony," it runs an engaging ninety minutes. Through June 30 at The Marsh Berkeley (2120 Allston Way, Berkeley). $15-$35. 415-282-3055 or TheMarsh.org
