Great Wall of Oakland Presents: Keep it Beautiful

When: Fri., April 6, 6:30 p.m. 2012
Price: free

You may have noticed that the Great Wall of Oakland (West Grand Ave., between Broadway and Valley St., Oakland) -- the ten-story brick wall that has served for the past six years as a First Friday backdrop for outdoor movie screenings and suspended dance performances -- stayed dark last month. The hiatus was the result of budget cuts, the pesky slayer of many a public art project. But with help from alternative funding, the Great Wall comes to life once again on Friday, Apr. 6, with Keep It Beautiful, a 45-minute screening of shorts about Earth. Films range from visually breathtaking works to critiques of humans' treatment of the planet. 6:30 p.m., free. GreatWallofOakland.org
