Yoshi's Oakland caps off February with two Bay Area crooners of decidedly different traditions: the Tony-Bennet-inspired Jonathan Poretz (who has that unctuous Vegas lounge style that sounds best when draped over a piano), followed by Oakland-born R&B singer Goapele, who could easily pack the Great American Music Hall, but sounds much better in a small setting. If you caught a snatch of Goapele purring Sam Cooke verses over UGK's rap hit "Choose You" on New Year's Eve, here's a chance to hear her with a full band. And who doesn't like that "Closer" song? Poretz performs Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 8 & 10 p.m., $10. Goapele appears Thursday, Feb. 28, through Saturday, March 1 at 8 & 10 p.m., and Sunday, March 2, at 7 & 9 p.m. $20-$26.
