In contemporary Santiago, Chile, the title character, a senior-citizen single grandmother played unforgettably by actress Paulina García, makes her way through the urban dating game with mixed results. She’s smarter and more vivacious than any of the men her age. And no matter what happens she remains unfailingly good-natured. That’s filmmaker Sebastián Lelio’s scenario in a nutshell, but it doesn’t take into account Gloria’s personality, which sweeps all before it like some sort of warm tidal wave of femininity. García, a veteran of Chilean TV, gives a powerhouse performance in a completely naturalistic setting. Screenplay by Lelio and Gonzalo Maza. Real life and nothing less (110 min.).
Sorry there are no upcoming showtimes for Gloria
