Fritjof Capra

When: Wed., Nov. 14, 7:30 p.m. 2007
Price: free

Merging non-Western mysticism with quantum theory, Vienna-born physicist Fritjof Capra acquired a massive following with his 1975 bestseller The Tao of Physics, though many of his former colleagues scorned it. Capra's later books, such as Green Politics, EcoManagement, and Uncommon Wisdom, helped put the ecology movement on the intellectual map; in 1995, he cofoundedBerkeley's Center for Ecoliteracy. At Diesel (5433 College Ave., Oakland) on Nov. 14, he discusses his latest book, The Science of Leonardo. Da Vinci is better known for his Last Supper than for his theories on hydrodynamics and for designing, way back then, a helicopter. 7:30 p.m. Diesel.booksense.com
