Re: “Day After Deadly West Oakland Apartment Fire, City Modified Real Estate Deal to Financially Benefit Negligent Landlord

As if to illustrate my point, I just received the following information from a reputable cohort who is involved in this relief effort: "Just found out that the major City-approved fundraiser for the San Pablo fire survivors is going to be disbursed in the form of.....drumroll....Target gift cards. On May 12th. I can't even.
But wait, you wanna know why? Because people are "too likely to use cash to fund drug and alcohol habits." Let's just unpack that one while people run out of money for motels this week, and get picked up for sleeping in cars, and our encampments on Northgate, Brush, Magnolia, and Wood Streets grow ever larger. "

The way the City of Oakland has neglected and dismissed these victims, our neighbors, is atrocious and serves as yet another glaring, unvarnished example of the depth and pervasiveness of gentrification and displacement at the hands of our leaders. It is sickening in it's obviousness and disgracefully unkind.

Re: “AC Transit to Cancel Supplemental OUSD School Bus Routes

Furthermore....AC Transit *DOESN'T* serve the general public? Isn't that why it's called PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION?

Re: “AC Transit to Cancel Supplemental OUSD School Bus Routes

"The dispute boils down to money." What else is new. The "dispute" in Oakland is consistently, and ever more so about money; those that have more of it, want even more and those with less, get less. Services and access to basic necessities of Oakland living - like kids taking a bus to school - are blithely overlooked in favor of money. It's despicable, but sadly it's another perfect example of Oakland discarding the needs of the needy. How about some of the "haves" stand up and help out these school kids and the OUSD? Hello Google Bus, Uber, etc...y'all could use some good PR.

Re: “West Oakland Fire Survivors Say City's Response Is Unacceptable and Victim Assistance Is Lacking

Unbelievable, and yet completely and utterly in line with the way this city operates. The underserved remain underserved and worse. Not sexy enough for the mayor to hold a press conference, and not enough PR kickback for the sports teams to kick-in a few dollars. Disgraceful.

Re: “Coal Terminal Developer Suing City of Oakland, Seeking to Overturn Ban on Fossil Fuel Exports

Tagami, you bloodthirsty pig, isn't it time you went scouting for some other community to rape & pillage? Have we not suffered enough of your insatiable greed?

Re: “Stop Blaming Artists and Musicians for the Ghost Ship Fire. Blame People In Power Who Screwed Up.

I'm already fed up with the feeding frenzy by many in our own community, and even more beyond the city limits, whose aim seems to be to exploit this atrocity. To each and every one of them I say; if you can't find a way to use your voice/power/energy to come to the aid of those who have suffered unbearable loss, or for those who stand to lose, then shut your mouths and get out of the way.
