A quick glance over El Centenario’s menu doesn’t reveal much: It’s all stuff you’ll find in every basic taqueria in Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood. But Ana Rosa León’s enchiladas are not your standard enchiladas, her empanadas not what you’re expecting from the 35 you’ve tried before. In fact, this is not “Mexican” food. This is Mexican food, estilo Autlán, Jalisco. The many, many highlights include Ana Rosa’s ceviche, birria, pozole, and home-baked desserts.
