Finding a taco truck that offers regional specialties from Mexico can take a little digging. El Taco Oaxaco’s Yolanda Cisneros grew up in Juxtlahuaca, a small town in the mountains of Oaxaca. For more than a decade she has parked her truck weekdays in East Oakland, and on weekends at the Berkeley Flea Market at Ashby BART. You can get the usual range of taco meats here, but seek out gorditas, a Oaxacan specialty: a thick tortilla split and filled with Oaxacan-style carnitas, beans, and crema. On Fridays, Cisneros’ daily special is chicken mole, with a sauce incorporating mole paste delivered by friends and relatives from Juxtlahuaca.
