Doris has come a long way since its humble beginnings. Started in Berkeley in the Nineties, the autobiographical, feminist ’zine exploring complex issues like identity, self-image, death, and addiction is now internationally distributed (recent issues include “How I Quit Worrying and Learned to Love Being Queer” and ruminations on menstrual extraction). Author Cindy Crabb, after spending time in North Carolina, New York, Florida, and Ohio, returns to the Bay Area to celebrate eighteen years of Doris’ publication at Pegasus Books Downtown (2349 Shattuck Ave. Berkeley) on Sunday, Sept. 2. 7:30 p.m., free. 510-649-1320 or Pegasus.Indiebound.com
