At this stage of his career, Sylvester Stallone has the perfect face – weary, dissipated, but hard-baked – for the ultra-violent story of a hood named Jimmy Bobo, who forms an unlikely alliance with a police detective (Sung Kang) to neutralize the rottenest element of “Crescent City.” Stallone is also fortunate to have old pro action honcho Walter Hill (The Warriors, 48 Hrs., Wild Bill) in the director’s chair. Together they make the often-corny dialogue sound not only plausible but weirdly logical. Alessandro Camon’s screenplay is adapted from Du plomb de la tête, a graphic novel by Matz and Colin Wilson. Christian Slater costars as a sleazy socialite/criminal. (92 min.)
