1. The violence that has rocked Oakland began after the girlfriend of a gang leader was shot to death last summer by mistake, according to police, the Chron and Trib report. The warring factions, the “Case Gang” and the “Money Team,” have become increasingly brazen and grown in number. Law enforcement sources told the Chron that the gang war started after the killing of 16-year-old Taiteanna Turner whose boyfriend was a member of one of the gangs. Turner was not the intended target in the shooting.
