Daily Roundup: Meet Kestrel, the Hemp Car

1) Fast Company reports on a Canadian vehicle to be built from hemp. "The vehicle, dubbed the Kestrel, gets its hemp ... from an industrial hemp farm in Vegreville, Alberta. Beyond the novelty factor, hemp actually makes sense as a vehicle material — it's lightweight, renewable, and as strong as glass composite."

2) Tiny Dutch border town of Maastricht is ready to tell drug tourists, "not in my backyard." The New York Times reports.

3) Washington D.C. — land of newly legal medical cannabis — learns how much it can cost to open a dispensary: more than $200,000.

4) Berkeley party people The Pack have a new album out called Wolfpack Party, of dubious quality.

5) The federal government says cannabis is a schedule 1 drug that's as dangerous as heroin. But now, the Department of Veterans Affairs allows its use in fourteen medical marijuana states. Men's News Daily asks "Did the V.A. Unseat Marijuana From Schedule I?"

6) Authorities seized and destroyed 91,000 plants in the backcountry of Santa Barbara, claiming it was worth something like several bajillion dollars.

7) Entourage tackles drug testing in Hollywood, and CelebStoner concludes "there's no drug testing in 'Entourage'."
