So tomorrow is Record Store Day, which means that despite the fact that scores of vinyl/cassette/CD purveyors have closed in the last decade or so, we should rejoice in the fact that many are still open. To celebrate their most-cherished existence, indie record stores across the country, and right here, will host live in-store performances and sell all kinds of special, limited-edition releases by your favorite artists. Here’s what’s going down:

RSD2011DATE.jpg

1) 1-2-3-4 Go! Records (419 40th St., Oakland)
No live performances, but the specialty vinyl shop says it will have a “ton” of exclusive vinyl in stock. 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

2) Amoeba — Berkeley (2455 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley)
Amoeba’s got live shows, DJ sets, special guest artists, gift bags, and tons of limited-edition vinyl and CDs.
Noon - Founding Beach Boys member Al Jardine will do a mini-acoustic set and signing of a special 7-inch vinyl, proceeds of which go to Japan disaster relief.
2-4 p.m. — Special Lord B. (aka DJ Paul Paul, aka Paul Costruros) of Saturday Night Soul Party and International Freakout A Go-Go will spin vintage soul, funk, rock, pop, and psych.
4-6 p.m. — Jen Chochinov will spin vinyl of various genres.
7:30 p.m. — Berkeley boys The Lonely Island will participate in a Q&A and sign stuff afterward. (Album pre-order required in advance.)

3) Rasputin (2401 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley)
The indie chain store will feature in-store appearances and RSD releases.
Noon - Man’s Ruin founder and notorious toy-maker Frank Kozik will be on hand, presumably signing stuff.
1:30 p.m. — Autograph signing by Roger and John Taylor of Duran Duran.

4) Mod Lang (6328 Fairmount Ave., El Cerrito).
No in-store performances but there will be special releases and a sale on used stuff. 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

5) Down Home Music (10341 San Pablo Ave., El Cerrito)
The specialty roots-music store says it won’t have any special releases or in-store performances, but it is “participating” in RSD. Buy a CD or two.

And if you're going over the bridge, check out Amoeba and Aquarius Records.
