This week the NBA fined Stephen Jackson, the talented but difficult player for the Golden State Warrior, $25,000. What nefarious act by Jackson caused this? Jackson told Dime magazine that he would like to be traded and that he was talking to the Warriors about it. Uttering those words in public, it seems, costs you money in professional basketball.

This week the NBA fined Stephen Jackson, the talented but difficult player for the Golden State Warriors, $25,000. What nefarious act by Jackson caused this -- did he hit someone? Nope, Jackson told Dime magazine that he would like to be traded and that he was talking to the Warriors about it. Uttering those words in public, it seems, costs you money in professional basketball.

Millionaire players like Jackson usually get little sympathy when they are fined. But 25k for saying you would like to work somewhere else seem excessive.

Between player issues and the labor dispute with the refs, it is going to be a wild NBA season at Oracle Arena.
