When artists Laurie Shapiro and Jon Jon Cassagnol opened The Grease Diner (6604 San Pablo Ave., Oakland) in June, it was primarily an art gallery and storefront displaying Shapiro’s work. A year later, Shapiro and Cassagnol have expanded their business, selling works by crafters, operating a screen-printing studio, and hosting pop-up art shows, the second of which is happening this weekend. The show, Electro Luminous, will display paintings and installations by Oakland artist JJ fryzel, who uses fluorescent and blacklight paints to create a 3D effect. In order to fully immerse viewers in the experience, Shapiro and Cassgnol will be providing attendees with 3D glasses and blacklight flashlights. To complete the futuristic vibe, Bay Area electronic musicians Acreaturas, LA Tron, and Ajavision will perform on Saturday.
