It's been a long time coming, but it appears that Oakland and Berkeley's respective food-truck scenes are beginning to catch up with those of San Francisco and Emeryville. Last week, Berkeley's hotly anticipated Off the Grid clogged the Gourmet Ghetto with dozens of food trucks and hundreds of people. And now comes Oakland's version, Bites on Broadway, organized by longtime events producer Karen Hester. The event, which is set to run every Friday night this summer, including Friday, June 10, near Oakland Technical High School on 45th St. and Broadway, Oakland, will feature a rotating group of five or so trucks, plus live music and grassy space aplenty. 5:30-8:30 p.m., free.
