Best Veterinarian: Compassion at reasonable prices
Dr. Foor Paws
We love our pets like family. And family health care can cost a bundle. Has puppy gotten into a fight and now has an infected abscess that's oozing stinky pus? Good luck getting out of the vet clinics for less than $100. Well, Dr. Foor Paws will treat puppy, give him a shot and bottle of antibiotics, and charge you less than that. His real name is Thomas Foor and he's been practicing animal medicine since 1971. With more than 35 years in the biz, there's definitely an old-school quality to Foor Paws' practice, which specializes in dogs and cats (although he sees rodents too). Unlike other local vets who will remain nameless, Foor won't immediately push for the most expensive treatment option. Also, he only charges $30 for the basic office visit. (For comparison, Campus Veterinary Clinic charges $45, VCA in Albany charges $47.50, and Berkeley Dog & Cat charges $50.) What's more, Foor has excellent basketside manner. "He is straightforward, gentle with my animals, and has always been very reasonable about fees," one regular customer wrote in an online review. "It's obvious he cares more about the animals than about finding ways to charge for their care."
