From the outside, it looks like any roadhouse in the Ozarks, another stop on the Hillbilly Heaven Honky-Tonk Tour. But as they proclaim: "It's the battleship, not the state." Inside, the Missouri Lounge reveals itself as a retro-modern spiff-o-matic urban bar with comfortable accoutrements like velour banquette seating, a red pool table, and a jukebox stuffed with the Meters, Loretta Lynn, the Dandy Warhols, Hank Williams III, and Bo Diddley. Noted cocktail aficionado Pinky observes: "It's a guy bar, but nice for girlfriends and wives." Try the $5 whiskey-and-can-of-beer special when the house sound system is stuck on Fred Wesley and the New JBs. There's DJ music most nights, with Paul Pot's Open Mic on Wednesdays. There are plans to expand the food operation, too.
