Back in Mexico City, Antonio Estrada's family ran a successful chain of stands selling licuados (fruit shakes) and tortas (sandwiches). After they moved to the Bay Area, the Estradas started from scratch with one tiny taco truck. Seven years in, they own a small fleet as well as a couple of taquerias. Their colorful, clean taco truck on Fruitvale and E. 12th is still one of our favorites in the neighborhood -- always excellent, always fresh. Their pork al pastor, red with chiles, is tender as can be. Their lengua couldn't be more succulent. Their chicken is well marinated before being grilled, and splashed with a flavor-bomb salsa. We always splurge a little and order El Ojo's chorizo tacos, because the cooks grind and season the spicy sausage themselves. Every plate of tacos comes garnished with grilled spring onions and pickled carrots and jalapeños, making us feel as if our $5 meal is a real splurge.
