Enjoying a massage doesn't take much effort, no matter where you are. But in certain magical places of the world, you're invited to step into a cocoon of total comfort and relaxation. What makes Azul Spa exceptional is that it strives to promote both mental and physical health. There's no treadmill, no scales, and no high-protein juice bar. Instead, the architecture has a peaceful, Mediterranean feel; it's airy and spacious and quiet, with big white comfortable chairs to sit on while you wait (i.e., enjoy doing nothing). The variety of services is on par with bigger spas, and on average about $5 less per treatment. And while there are impressively decadent packages available, the spa welcomes the guest who has a free hour and forty bucks for a half-hour massage plus full access to showers and the steam room. Azul has a wide variety of specialty baths, including a Cleopatra-worthy milk-and-honey bath, and the staff is friendly without being annoyingly effusive. While the spa is intended mainly for women, it is very welcoming to men, and should be enjoyed by all.
