Best Place to End Your Evening

Radio

Radio's got a lot going for it, even when you discount the place's signature end-of-night move of pouring lighter fluid on the bar and setting it on fire. The happy hour lasts an absurd five hours (from 4–9 p.m.) every day of the week and includes $5 manhattans, house martinis, and cosmos, $4 Racer 5 IPAs, and $6–$7 cheap-beer-and-a-shot deals involving tequila, Jameson, or Fernet. The baffling Chinese-lite décor (red lanterns, Asian bar decals, a bamboo-esque font) clashes with the divey atmosphere in a way that's somehow delightful, the clientele is strange-good, and the DJ spins actual vinyl (old school hip-hop and jazz by the likes of Helen Humes and Anita O'Day). But let's be honest: Even if you gave two licks about the décor, it would still pale in the face of the bar's frequently occurring, late-night pyrotechnics. So you'd do well to stick around for the show, even after the long happy hour is over.
