To make an experience out of eating is a Bay Area tradition, no matter whether the food comes on a warm plate or in a greasy to-go container. And there’s perhaps no better example of this than the food-truck gathering Off the Grid, which now includes several East Bay iterations. One of our favorites happens only blocks from the UC Berkeley campus every Thursday evening. Each week brings eight to ten of the Bay Area’s finest food trucks, with favorites like CurryUpNow, The Chairman, An the Go, and The Crème Brûlée Cart. So grab some friends, enjoy the live music and string lights, and indulge in a casual meal together without the drama of deciding which restaurant to choose and splitting the bill. It’s a Cal student’s dream come true.
