Everyone seems to love this Hawaiian-born catcher. Last season, he put in solid numbers for a rookie. This year, he's settled into a nice place, with his enthusiasm and talent helping to smooth out some of the rougher patches for Oakland's up-and-coming pitching staff. With Billy Beane's constant search for new prospects, Suzuki has become a staple for the A's defense this season. He may be young, but he's stayed healthy and kept the defense steady in tough situations. While he started out as a fill-in for the always injured and now retired Mike Piazza, Suzuki has shown he has what it takes to be the stand-up guy when it's a tied game, three and two, with a man on first and third.
