When the staffs of the trendiest restaurants in Berkeley and Oakland finish their twelve-hour shifts, after their customers have filled up on burrata, stuffed squash blossoms, and flat-iron steak, chances are you’ll find them at Daimo in Richmond’s Pacific East Shopping Mall. The restaurant is known far and wide for its delicious, authentic dim sum — enormous bowls of noodle soup, braised short ribs, roasted duck, and thick-stalked greens covered in oyster sauce. Share a dish of dumplings or sweet sesame balls with your table and the servers will come by to cut them into quarters with a pair of scissors. As one of the few restaurants in the East Bay that stays open until 3 a.m., Daimo has no problem attracting hungry and grateful diners.
